SPS500 will be a new game format which will be introduced to the SPS events in 2016. Adopted from the Millennium Series, the M500 format was first initiated earlier this year in the Millennium Series with aims of reducing the cost of participation while maintaining a competitive edge for players. Since its introduction in the Millennium Series, the SPS has monitored the development and the growth of the M500 events closely and strongly believe that with this new format as a SPS feeder event in 2016, the SPS will be able to bridge a missing gap between beginner players and seasoned players. Mechanical Division players can now gain knowledge of the RaceTo format before committing fully to a SPS main event while at the same time reduce cost of competing. Likewise, Electronic Division players can now further enhanced and sharpen their skill by adopting a clutch mindset with the limited paintballs thus adventurous in their manoeuvre up the field.

“SPS500 will be a paintball game with a different twist. It has all that we need to keep paintball exciting to watch and affordable” exclaimed SPS Tournament Promoter, Mr. Ben Seow. As a feeder event to the SPS main events, the SPS Committee has lined up exciting plans to promote the SPS500 differently from the SPS main events so as to encourage more local players to join in the fun of competing and eventually to the bigger stage. SPS500 as the name implied will limit a player’s paint load to 500 rounds per game. Each player will enter the field with 1 full loader and 2 paintball pods as the maximum paintball load that he/she can carry. Before the commencement of the game, players can switch pods between teammates depending on the game strategy that they adopt. “We can expect faster game plays by the teams and with fast games, the usage of paintballs will be significantly reduced thus allowing the teams to compete economically.” mentioned Mr. Dominic Foo, the Marketing and Event Manager for the Singapore Paintball Series.

To further enhance the effectiveness of the SPS500 with a local flavour and to attract more teams to compete in the SPS events, SPS will further reduce the current rate of fire (ROF) from 12 bps to 11 bps in all SPS event for 2016. As a 10 years veteran and holding the post as SPS Tournament Director, Ms. Jane Koh further explained the aims of introducing the SPS500, “Over the years, the Singapore Paintball Series has evolved and changed. With developments and improvements come progression. The SPS has grown in strength in all aspects and has gain wide recognition and support from local and overseas teams. We have provided a professional and competitive platform for teams to compete in the sport of paintball sport and hold high-minded consideration to professionalism. The SPS team embraces the challenges that are bestowed upon them to deliver the best paintball competition in Singapore and remain passionate to uphold SPS’s claims to be the finest paintball competition in Singapore.”

In SPS 2016, a SPS motto will be introduced as a guiding principle to the series: “Progressive, Professional and Passionate”. The motto represents the focal point in our belief for: Progressive we must, Professional we will and Passionate we are.

More implementation for 2016 will be published in the SPS Executive Summary 2016 at a later date. Please visit https://singaporepaintballseries.com/events-2/sps-500-series/ for more information about SPS 500 Series.
